Sondra “Kay” Modrell, age 77, of Paducah, KY passed away on Sunday, August 29, 2021 at Baptist Health in Paducah, Kentucky.
Kay was born in Murray, Kentucky on February 16, 1944 to the late John and Myrtle “Doots” Barrett Ricks. She is a graduate of North Marshall High School and later went on to attend Draughon’s Business College in Paducah where she received her Associates Degree. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Primitive Baptist Church and worked as a teacher’s aid at Sharple Elementary School for many years before retiring. She had a kind heart and loved caring for others, especially her husband of 57 years, Danny Modrell. For Kay, family was everything. From shopping or going out to eat, to traveling and taking trips, she loved to surround herself and spend time with all of her family.
Kay is survived by her daughter, Sloan Knecht (Mark) of Paducah; her two granddaughters, Paige Whitledge Keeling (Kevin) of Paducah and Katie Knecht of Brooklyn, New York; and her great granddaughter, Whitlee Ray.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Modrell; one brother, Billy Don Ricks; and her parents.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 AM Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr with Elder Danny Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow at Fooks Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:30 AM Thursday, September 2, 2021 at Filbeck-Cann Funeral Home of Milner & Orr.
