Norma Jean (Jones) Middleton, age 86, passed away October 7, 2015 at her home in Benton, KY. Born July 8, 1929 in Dearborn, MI, she was raised in Marshall County, KY. She lived in Washington, DC for 30 years where she worked for the Federal Government and retired in 1986. She moved back to KY in 1988.
Her parents were Reed and Emily (Lee) Jones and step-mother, Fannie Jones.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Middleton, step-daughter, Ann Middleton Peters, step-son, John R. Middleton, step-grandson, Tres Middleton, and step-brother, James Elkins.
She is survived by sister, Janice Jones Darnall, Benton, KY; step-sister, Joann Galloway, Calhoun, KY; step-brother, Bob Elkins, Benton, KY; daughter-in-law, Carol Middleton, Winston-Salem, NC; son-in-law, Bob Peters, Apopka, FL; step-granddaughter, Elisabeth Peters Myrick, and step great grandchildren, Kendall and Jack Myrick, Sanford, FL; and several special nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Benton, KY, an auxiliary member of Gideons International, an auxiliary member of Marshall County Hospital, and a member of NARFE.
A Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th Street, Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. K. Alan Miller officiating. Visitation will be held between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Collier Funeral Home. Interment will be held in the Little Church Cemetery, Stanley, NY.
