Mrs. Sarah Sue McClure, 63 of Gilbertsville, Kentucky, died Wednesday, July 14th, 2021 at Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital in Paducah.
Mrs. McClure was the daughter of the late Velmer Smith and Dula (Richardson) Wilson. She was a graduate of Symsonia High School and attended Mid-Continent University. She was a retired activities director at Mills Manor in Mayfield and was the past president of the West Kentucky Activity Association and former state vice-president of the Kentucky Activity Association. Mrs. McClure was a Kentucky Colonel.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, David McClure; her Goddaughter Amiya Morris of Mayfield, Kentucky; and several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. McClure was preceded in death by two brothers, Wayne Sheppard and the Rev. John Sheppard.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 18th, 2021 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West Fifth Street, Benton, Kentucky. Rev. Doug Sanders will officiate with interment to follow at Union Ridge Cemetery near Aurora.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17th, 2021 at the funeral home.
