(Frankfort, KY) – The Commonwealth Policy Center is calling on Gov. Andy Beshear to renew the state contract with Sunrise Children’s Services, which places children in adoptive and foster homes. The state has held Sunrise at arms length because the organization operates according to biblical principles. “We believe it’s in the best interest of Kentucky to renew the contract with Sunrise,” said CPC Executive Director Richard Nelson. “It’s time for Gov. Beshear to put religious differences aside and do what’s in the best interest of Kentucky’s most vulnerable children.” Kentucky’s contract with the states oldest child welfare agency is set to expire June 30.
