Raymond Peter Thomas, age 80, of Columbus, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, April 29,2021 at Lourdes Mercy Health, Paducah.
Peter was born on June 5, 1940 to the late Samuel and Ollie Mae Motley Thomas. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Oakton, Kentucky where he serves as Trustee and sang in the Male Chorus for many years. Peter loved his family dearly, but his grandkids were the highlight of his life. He loved to spoil them and give them anything they wished for. Peter was also a people person who never met a stranger. He could talk and carry on a conversation with just about anyone. Peter was also a big fan of cars and loved to frequent car shows and collect antique model cars.
Peter is survived by his wife, Nannie Pearl Abbott Thomas; six daughters, Florenda Abbott, Kathy (Brent) Barnett, Linda (John) Meeks, Sylvia Hussey, Anjeanette Thomas and Kristen (Rev. Buster) Johnson; one son, Raymond Andrae (Miranda) Thomas; one sister, Christine Scott; five brothers, Bobby Thomas, Larry Thomas, Donald Thomas, James “Buster” Thomas and Rickey Thomas; 14 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, one expected grandson and two expected great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by six sisters, Laverne Crumble, Artie Mae Scott, Jewell Young, Effie Mae Mason, Wanda Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Smalls; one brother, Sammie Thomas, Jr.; and his parents.
Funeral services for Peter will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Rev. Anthony Johnson and Rev. Henry Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Columbus Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the service time of 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the funeral home.
