Sammie Thomas, Jr, 90

Sammie Thomas, Jr. was born on October 25, 1931 to the late Samuel Thomas and Ollie Mae Motley Thomas. He was raised in the Hailwell community of Hickman County, Kentucky. He departed his earthly home on April 27, 2021 at Clinton Place Nursing Home in Clinton, Kentucky. He was a member of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Oakton, Kentucky where he served as a Trustee.

Sammie was better known to all as “Plad” or “Plaz”. He was a lifelong truck driver. Sammie met and married Mary Elizabeth Partee on June 24, 1951. To this union were born seven children; Donnie Thomas, Jerry Thomas, Ronnie (Diane) Thomas, Janet (Tony) Thomas, Charlotte (Shelton) Morris, Bonnie Thomas and Reba Thomas.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife and children; 14 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Christine Scott of Clinton; six brothers, Raymond Thomas of Columbus, Kentucky, Bobby Joe Thomas of Erie, Pennsylvania, Larry Thomas of Columbus, Kentucky, Donald Thomas of Waverly, Kentucky, James Thomas of Clinton and Rickey Thomas of Holland, Ohio; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his six sisters, Laverne Crumble, Artie Mae Scott, Jewell Young, Effie Mae Mason, Wanda Alexander and Mary Elizabeth Smalls; one grandson, Steven Jerome Crume; and his parents.

Funeral services for Sammie will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Milner & Orr Funeral Home of Arlington with Rev. Anthony Johnson and Rev. Henry Greer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Oakton, Kentucky.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the service time of 2:00 PM on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at the funeral home.
