MCHS students selected to attend 2021 Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts

Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts (GSA) – L to R: Nadia Adamson, Laney Evans, Karsen Eubanks

Marshall County High School is proud to announce that three MCHS students have been recognized through Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts. Karsen Eubanks has been accepted in the area of Visual Art. GSA has also named Nadia Adamson as an alternate in the area of Musical Theatre and Laney Evans as an alternate in the area of Creative Writing.

Every summer for over three decades, GSA and their faculty of professional artist/educators have guided over two hundred of Kentucky’s finest young artists through three weeks of incredibly intense (and incredibly fun) arts instruction. GSA auditions promising high school sophomores and juniors in nine different arts disciplines: Architecture+Design, Creative Writing, Dance, Drama, Instrumental Music, Musical Theatre, New Media: Still Photography and Film, Visual Art and Vocal Music.

For three solid weeks residing on a college campus, the students discover the power of their art and their place as an artist. This year the program will be held at the University of Kentucky.  It’s a thrilling, often life-changing experience, as they meet new friends, explore their creativity, and discover new things about who they are and who they can be in the future. This year GSA has selected 256 students from across the state of Kentucky.

The Marshall County School District is proud of the hard work and dedication that these students have demonstrated to earn admittance to the Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts, and we wish them continued success in all their future endeavors!
