Marshals hold top spots in the state, Chuck Gullo Twilight Relays coming up Friday

Cade Flatt (front) and Will Davis currently rank in the state’s top 10 among all classes in several events. Flatt has the fastest time in the state in the 800 meters and second fastest in the 400 meters. Davis ranks third in both the 400 and 800 and sixth in the 200 meters.

Heading into Friday’s Chuck Gullo Twilight Relays, the Marshall County boys’ team has 11 individuals and one relay that is currently ranked among the top 20 best in the state among all classes. Two take the top spot – Cade Flatt ranks first in the 800 meters (1:54.36) and Ben Fiser in shot (52-2.5).

Flatt ranks second in the state in the 400 meters (48.59) and Fiser third in discus (157-2).

Will Davis holds down a couple of third place rankings in the 400 meters (49.85) and 800 meters (1:58.14) as well as a sixth place rank in the 200 meters (22.78).

Chase Thompson ranks eighth in shot (49-6.5), Ethan McCarty ninth in the 3200 meters (9:55.60) and Caleb Pahl ninth in pole vault (12-6) to round out the top 10 rankings.

Joey Colley comes in the top 20 ranked 16th in shot (45-7.5) and the 4 x 400 relay is 19th (3:41.66).

In Area I and Region I Class AAA rankings, holding the top spot is Flatt in both the 400 meters and 800 meters, McCarty in the 3200 meters and Fiser is first in both discus and shot. The 4 x 400 relay ranks first in Area I and the 4 x 800 relay holds the fastest time in Region I Class AAA.

The girls have four individuals ranked in the top 20 – all in field events. Tori McCracken and Presleigh Jennings are both in an 11-way tie for ninth in the high jump (5-0). Alyssa McClain ranks 13th in shot (33-7) and Laney Evans is in a 5-way tie for 17th in the pole vault (8-6).

The only running event for the girls gracing the top 20 is the 4 x 100 (53.42) in 16th.

In Region I Class AAA rankings, the 4 x 100 relay ranks third.
