
Marshall County and Bardstown both came into Saturday’s game at Butler County High School on 10-game win streaks after losing their first games of the season.
The Lady Marshals only loss was to Bethlehem by six points in their first game- a team that Bardstown beat by seven points on Feb. 1. A game of runs, ties and a few lead changes – ended on a 6-0 run by the Lady Marshals – the final four points at the free throw line from Jada Driver for win number 11 by a final score of 56-60.
A basket followed by free throws, all from Halle Langhi, opened up a 4-0 lead to start the game and Driver made it 6-0 before junior Jaileyah Cotton, the Lady Tigers leading scorer, got Bardstown on the board. Bardstown went up 10-8 on an 8-0 run, Sophie Galloway tied it at 10-10 and Driver’s 3-pointer put the Lady Marshals up by three but two baskets from Kaia Grabbert and MaTija Yocum finished out the first quarter on a 14-13 Bardstown lead.
Galloway tied it at 14-14 with a free throw and the Lady Marshals stayed in front until the half, getting seven straight points from Langhi to finish out the second quarter up by seven at 27-20.
Driver dropped in a three to open the second half on a 10-point Lady Marshals lead. They led by as many as 13 points at 39-26 before Bardstown finished out the third quarter, scoring six of the final eight points to cut the lead to seven at 41-34.
Cayson Conner headed into the fourth quarter with four fouls and with a 48-42 lead, she picked up her fifth on Yocum who made both at the line to make it a four point game. Bardstown finished off a 10-0 run that tied the game at 48-48. Layne Pea hit two at the free throw line to put the Lady Marshals up by two, tied again on a basket by Cotton. Langhi scored for the two-point lead, the start of a 6-0 Lady Marshals run to finish out the 6-point win.
Langhi led the Lady Marshals with 17 points, Driver with 13 and 11 by Galloway. Cotton led Bardstown with 18 points.

Friday in their second game of the season against Calloway County at home, the Lady Marshals put together an impressive 67-19 win over the Lady Lakers. Calloway was without Elle Carson, one of their top scorers, and they were held to single digits each quarter.
Nine Lady Marshals scored in the win led by Driver with 14, Langhi and Pea each with 12 points and Conner with 11. Eighth grader Skylar Waller led the Lady Lakers with 14 of their 19 points.
