Mrs. Marilyn Joy Pursley, age 93 died on Sunday, January 17, 2021, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY. She was retired from the US Postal Service where she worked as a postal clerk. She was a long time resident of Sledd Creek in Gilbertsville, enjoyed homemaking, traveling, and family. She was of the Catholic Faith.
Born Thursday, May 19, 1927 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Phelan and the late Pearl (Hunt) Phelan.
Surviving are sons, Jerry Pursley, wife Nita of Calvert City, KY and Jim Pursley, wife Lou of Union Town, OH, grandchildren, Leighann Ridgeway, Darrin Pursley, wife Courtney Cavitt-Pursley, Kim Sweeny, Deena Valentine, husband Dave, Michael Pursley, wife Shari, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, and grandson-in-law, Steve Kimbro.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, James I. Pursley, son, Bill Pursley, 9 brothers and sisters, and grandchild, Teri Kimbro.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Marshall Co. Memory Gardens Mausoleum located at Hwy U.S. 641 North Benton, Kentucky 42025 with Bro. Joel Frizzell officiating.
No public visitation is scheduled.
