
In their first 4th District game of the season, the Lady Marshals beat Calloway County 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-11) and improve their record to 2-1. The JV Lady Marshals won their match 2-0 (25-6, 25-2)
Marshall County got off to a 4-0 lead in the first set before the Lady Lakers scored the next four to tie it. A kill from Halle Langhi was the start of four straight points for the Lady Marshals to lead 8-4. The lead stretched to seven points at 17-10, Alyssa McClain found a hole to tip the ball to for an 18-12 lead and they out-scored Calloway County 7-3 from there to win set one 25-15 on a final serve by Abigail Joiner.
They took early control of set two on a 4-1 lead and held a steady six to 10 point advantage on their way to take the set 25-15. An early Lady Marshals lead in set three was closed to a 5-5 tie by the Laker Lakers. They went on a 5-0 run to go up 10-5 and controlled the set from there to close out the third 25-11 for the 3-0 win.
“It was great to get our first district win”, Head Coach Laura Kinder said. “We tried out some different rotations and the girls responded well.”
The Lady Marshals will host seven-time 1st Region champion McCracken County on Thursday. The Lady Mustangs are 3-0 with wins over Caldwell County (3-0), Christian County (3-0) and Graves County (3-0).
