Mrs. Verlaine H. Lassiter, age 79 of Benton, KY passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020, at Lake Way Nursing & Rehabilitation in Benton, KY.
Born Monday, April 1, 1940 in Hazel Park, MI, she was the daughter of the late Clifford Houser and the late Virginia (Anderson) Houser. She worked in manufacturing, was a server at KenBar Inn, Cracker Barrel in Murray, KY and server and giftshop at Patti’s 1880’s Settlement in Grand Rivers, KY. Verlaine and husband Paul would courier vehicles cross country for local auto dealers. She was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are daughters, Daphne (Kenny) Lassiter Colbert, Deadra (Kenny) Henson of Benton, KY and Sheila McEntire of Walden, AR, sons, Donald Paul Lassiter of Nelson, MO, Dwayne Kevin Lassiter of Hardin, KY and Daniel Joseph Lassiter; sisters, Kathy Pearson of Benton, KY and Aletta Hargis of Benton, KY; grandchildren, Brandi Timmons, Amanda (Dave) Smith, Matthew Henson, Ashley Lassiter, Meagan (Clinton) O’bryan, Adam Lassiter, Kevin Colbert, Kaylie Lassiter; great grandchildren, Kelsie (Aaron) Duncan, Dalton Smith, Emily Henson, Hunter O’bryan, D. J. Smith, Olivia Lassiter, Dakota Smith, Landon Henson, Bristol O’bryan, Levi Henson, Oakley Henson, Elizabeth Lassiter, twins; Al and Louie Lassiter; great great grandchildren, Gracie Smith and Travis Duncan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 43 years, Paul Waylon Lassiter, sister, Verna Smith and great granddaughter, Addie Mae Lassiter.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home, Benton, KY. Bro. Chris Young will officiate. Interment will follow the service in Blagg Cemetery, Benton, KY.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, March 2, 2020, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, KY.
