Dennis R. Waters, age 73, of Benton, KY passed away Friday, October 18, at Lake Way Nursing and Rehab in Benton. Dennis was a member and Children’s Pastor at New Zion Baptist Church. Dennis was an ordained Baptist minister and had pastored churches in Hopkins, Marshall, Christian and Crittenden counties. He was a retired supervisor with the U.S. Post office in Paducah. Dennis was a U.S. Army combat veteran of the Vietnam War and received the Bronze Star and Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Leach Waters, Benton, KY; one daughter, Sarah Maurer & husband, Jerry, Gainesville, FL; three sons, Jeff Waters & wife, Jenny, Benton, KY, Gerald Wallace & wife, Gina, Benton, KY, and Scott Wallace & wife, Suzette, San Antonio, TX; one sister, Bonnie James & husband, John, Eddyville, KY; two brothers, Douglas Waters and Lilburn Ann Denny, Eddyville, KY and Terry Waters & wife, Janet, Eddyville, KY; thirteen grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Reed Waters, Anna Waters, Jeffrey Maurer, Douglas Maurer, Christina Wallace, Sarah Burton, Shane Wallace, Zach Wallace, Alexandra Wallace, Connor Wallace, Michael Barraza, Lexi Barraza, three great grandchildren, Dane Wallace, Addyson Burton, and Avery Schultz, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Gladys Ruth Reed Waters.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 22, from 12 Noon to 3 PM at Lakeland Funeral Home in Eddyville, KY. Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 22, at 3:00 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Dale Taylor, Rev. Roger Waters and Gail Wallace officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Glenns Chapel Cemetery in Lyon County.
