BENTON – Jamie Jameson, Benton native and former attorney with the Kentucky Department of Public Advocacy, Monday entered the race for Circuit Court Judge in Marshall and Calloway Counties.
“Over the last few months, I’ve met with a wide range of folks to listen to what they think we need in a Circuit Court Judge,” Jameson said. “They want someone who will do the hard work. They want someone who will go the extra mile running a courtroom and doing the job. I believe my work ethic, my background and my experience have prepared me well to be the public servant our community deserves. I can’t wait to get out there and earn the support of the people of Marshall and Calloway Counties”.
Jameson grew up on his family’s farm in Benton and spent ten years starting and growing a local music store, Jameson’s Music, in Murray. He graduated magna cum laude from Murray State University and attended Chase School of Law at Northern Kentucky University.
Upon graduating, Governor Steve Beshear appointed Jameson to lead Kentucky’s Consumer Protection team with the Department of Insurance, where he worked to crack down on those who tried to take advantage of Kentucky families at their most vulnerable. Jameson went on to serve as an attorney with the KY Department of Public Advocacy for the next seven years, where he represented local families in serious felony cases. Jameson also serves as adjunct professor of law at his alma mater, Murray State, where he teaches criminal law to undergraduates.
Jameson was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer in 2012, and he credits the friends, neighbors and even strangers who offered support and prayers with getting he and his wife, Jenny, through this trying time. Now cancer free and a proud father, Jameson says, “Every day offers a chance to repay just a little of the kindness and generosity of the folks here in Marshall and Calloway Counties. I promise to serve them with integrity, fairness and respect”.
Jameson and his family live in Benton, only a mile away from his childhood home. His in-laws, Don and Linda Cherry, and many extended family members are a short distance away in Murray. The Jamesons attend Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Hardin, where he serves in the music ministry.
