(L-R) Coach Keith Bell, Jay Nimmo, Camdyn McLeod, Tyler Powell, Trey Wall and Hayden Powell celebrate their win in the Meade County Invitational on Saturday.

The Marshals played Saturday in the 2019 Meade County “Greenwave” Invitational at Doe Valley Golf Club (par 71) in Brandenburg, KY. They earned the top honor among 14 teams with a team score of 298 (14 over par). Second place went to Trinity (Louisville) with 306 and Russell County took third with 314.

Medalist honors went to Clay Anderson of Russell County with a 2-under par 69, Allen Lockwood of Central Hardin was second with an even par 71 and third went to Michael Long of Trinity with 72.

Jay Nimmo and Tyler Powell led the Marshals with scores of 74, tying for fourth place. Camdyn McLeod and Trey Wall were right behind them with a score of 75 (tied for 7th) and Hayden Powell carded an 89 to round out the Marshall County scoring.

“It was a great team win today”, Coach Keith Bell said. “Everyone contributed to accomplish our team score of 298. It’s our fourth tournament win during this golf season and to do it on a course you aren’t familiar with makes it even sweeter.”

Bell said the team will be working hard this week to prepare for their next tournament, the inaugural Vince Hamilton Memorial KGCA All State Championship in Lexington at the University Club of Kentucky.

“A true test for our team to go up against the top 15 teams next Saturday”, Bell said. “We are excited to be going to this first time event.”
