George “Kent” Isbelle, 83

Mr. George “Kent” Isbell ,  83, passed into his eternal life, after a lengthy illness, on Monday, August 19, 2019 at Mills East Campus in Mayfield KY. He was born on April 1, 1936, the only child of Ryan and Olivia Joiner Isbell.

He was an owner of Mayfield Printing Co. Inc. for more than 50 years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.  During his younger years, he sang duets with his father, Ryan, and sang in the church choir. Kent was a former real estate developer, and was a Kentucky Colonel. His favorite hobby was playing golf with his wife and friends. He pursued that after retiring and moved to Florida. There, he was a Board Member of Moonspinners Condominiums and worked as a part time Course Marshal for Signal Hill Golf Course. It was during this period that he had a crippling stroke and his health issues forced him to return to Kentucky.

He is survived by his best friend, faithful caretaker, and wife of 42 years, Peggy Fiser Isbell; a daughter, Gina Isbell Adkins (Jay) of Arlington, TN; a son, Robert “Bob” Isbell (Kim) of Mayfield, KY; three bonus daughters, Kim Cole of Mayfield, KY; Kathy Hobbs of Louisville, KY; and Kelly Champion (Chris) of Mayfield, KY; eleven wonderful grandchildren, Tara Isbell (Emily) of Nashville, TN; Erica Isbell of Mayfield, KY; Kaitlyn Isbell of Mayfield, KY; Lauren Adkins of Atlanta, GA;  Kaysey Adkins of Memphis, TN; Emily Bearden of Paducah, KY; Tanner Hobbs of Louisville, KY; Harrison Hobbs of Louisville, KY; Austin Champion of Mayfield, KY; Trevor Champion of Mayfield, KY; Megan Mathis of Mayfield, KY; and one great grandchild, Auvi Boyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held for Mr. George “Kent” Isbell at the Byrn Funeral Home, 1020 Paris Road, Mayfield KY  at 2:00pm on Friday, August 23, 2019.  Pastor Joey Reed will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jay Adkins, Chris Champion, Tanner Hobbs, Austin Champion, Harrison Hobbs, and Trevor Champion. Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetary.

The family will be greeting friends and relatives from 11:00am until the funeral hour on Friday.
