Marshals first at Laker Invitational, Lady Marshals third

Cade Flatt set a new meet record at Calloway County Saturday in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.43. Flatt also took first in the 400 meters, first with the 4 x 800 relay team and second in high jump.

Marshall County boy’s track team successfully defended last years win at Calloway County by taking the 2019 Laker Invitational title Saturday. The Marshals beat out a strong showing from Paducah Tilghman who took second and host Calloway County in third. A good meet for the girl’s team landed them in third place behind first place Paducah Tilghman and second place Calloway County.

The Marshals recorded six first place finishes in the meet including a new meet record in the 800 meters by Cade Flatt in 2:03.43, breaking the old record of 2:04.38 set last year by Henry County’s Silas Winders. Other firsts came from the 4 x 800 relay team of Mason Cosner, Christian Cosner, Bryce Flatt and Samuel Lanham, Lanham in the 1600 meters, Cade Flatt in the 400 meters, Ethan McCarty in the 3200 meters and the 4 x 400 relay team.

For the Lady Marshals, three first place finishes came from the 4 x 800 and 4 x 400 relay teams and Tori McCracken in the high jump.

Marshall County will host a meet on Tuesday at South Marshall Middle School and will compete in the Area I Championships at McCracken County on Friday.
