Sharpe Elementary student earns selection to the USSSA All American Baseball Great Lakes Team

CINCINNATI, OH – Nine year old Chase Shelton of Paducah, Kentucky, was the number 2 pick for the USSSA All American Baseball Great Lakes Team. Chase is a 4th grader at Sharpe Elementary in Marshall County, Kentucky, and currently plays on two baseball teams in the area. Chase plays on the B9 Sluggers baseball team out of the LOYBSA recreational league.

Chase also plays on the 9U West KY Outlaws travel baseball team which is currently ranked #1 in KY USSSA. Chase is a utility player which plays 2nd base, short stop, third base and pitcher. His versatility, love of the game, great attitude, and power hitting helped him make the team.

USSSA All American baseball Teams are chosen from the top players across the nation. The US is broken into 8 regions (Far West, Northwest, Central, Midwest, Northeast, Atlantic, Great Lakes, and Southeast). Each region holds showcase events to select the top players in each region for their team.

Paducah falls in the Great Lakes region which conducted three showcase events. One in Chicago, IL, one in Cincinnati, OH and one in Sterling Heights, MI. Chase attended the showcase event in Cincinnati OH on May 1st.

Each regional team will travel to Orlando FL August 2nd-7th to the ESPN Wide World of Sports to compete in the All American Games where one team will walk away as the National Champion. The games are broken down into two pools. Pool A is comprised of the Far West, Northwest, Central and Midwest teams. Pool B is comprised of the Northeast, Atlantic, Great Lakes and Southeast teams. The overall best team out of pool A will play the overall best team out of pool B in the championship game.
