Mr. Allen P. McClain, age 92 of Benton, KY died on Friday, August 31, 2018, surrounded by his family at Marshall Co. Hospital in Benton, KY.
He was a barber and owner of McClain Barber Shop for 66 years. Mr. McClain was amember of First Baptist Church of Benton and was a WWII veteran of the US Army. He was a Mason for 68 years, and served on the city council where he assisted in the decision-making for bringing natural gas to the city of Benton and flouride in the city water system.
Born Monday, November 23, 1925 in Lynnville, KY, he was the son of the late Clifton McClain and the late Nettie (Bouland) McClain.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Irma (Dunn) McClain of Benton, KY; son, Philip McClain and fiance’ Lisa Williams of Amarillo, TX; daughters, Lisa Poston husband Michael of Benton, KY, Dianne Dodd husband Joe of Benton, KY; seven grandchildren, Brian McClain wife Crystal, Kevin McClain wife Amy, Misty Meyer husband Jamie, Lori Fields husband Stephen, Jesse West, Carla Tharp husband Michael, Brandon Dodd wife Maddie; 14 great-grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, Kent Dodd wife Liz, Michael Poston, Jr. wife Tonya; five step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Beauton Taylor and Lillie Griffith.
A Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Brandon Dodd and Mark Doom officiating.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 12:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 2, 2018.
