Thursday was a good night for Lady Marshals in their cancer awareness game. They celebrated a 10-0 shut out win over Calloway County, wrapped up the #1 seed in the district tournament, hit two home runs – one for the walk-off win and pitched a five-inning no-hitter.

Aubree Jo Kemp threw her first no-hitter in the five-inning win, while striking out five. The walk-off win came on a two-run home run by Cayson Conner.
Head Coach Mallory Newton said in post-game comments that her players are more confident in themselves and more confident in each other, adding the coaches have been telling them how good they are and it’s finally sinking in and showing in their play.
An RBI ground out by Gracey Murt scored Sarenna Tomassi to get the scoring rolling in the first inning, an inning that abruptly came to an end on a double play by Calloway County. Catcher Hannah Todd tagged McKenzie Elkins stealing home then made the throw to Anna Carter at third who tagged Addie Young stealing.
Conner scored on a wild pitch in the second inning for a 2-0 lead followed by a 3-run third inning with scoring coming on a 2-run double by Young and sacrifice fly by Conner to lead 5-0
With Zoie Swoope on base with a single and Layne Pea reaching on an error, Tomassi hit one over the fence on the second pitch to put the Lady Marshals up 8-0. That was followed by Conner’s 2-run homer in the fifth for the walk-off 10-0 win.
Currently ranked #13 in the state and hoping to climb higher, the Lady Marshals will host #6 McCracken County on Monday.
