
John Edward Arant, 92 of Sharpe, died on Monday, April 23, 2018, at Parkview Nursing Center in Paducah.
He was a member of North Marshall Church of Christ. He retired from Pennwalt where he worked as a Boiler Operator. He served in the U.S. Army Aircorps where he served in the European Theatre during WWII. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion Post 144.
Born Monday, August 3, 1925 in Marshall County, he was the son of the late Claude Arant and the late Inas (Hancock) Arant.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Effie Mae (Harper) Arant of Benton, daughters, Jonna Weinberg of Louisville, and Jan Arant of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, sons, Doug Arant of Sharpe, Kevin Arant of Sharpe, brother, Eddie Arant of Benton; grandchildren, Marci Shuman, Drew Weinberg, Marissa Hebner, Shelley Arnold, Cody Arant, Harper Arant and Katie Arant, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Ernest Arant and James Arant, sisters, Claudine King and Sallie Sue Locker.
A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with James Long and Jack Phillips officiating.
Interment will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery in Benton.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
