It was a great effort by the Lady Marshals Monday holding #20 Graves County to their lowest point total in a win this season at 46-35. At 23-6 the Lady Eagles have won their last 11 straight games and the Lady Marshals made them work for #11, holding them to their lowest winning margin in all 23 wins so far this season after losing by 31 points on February 2.

Tied 4-4 near the end of the low-scoring first quarter, a basket from Lyndi Qualls put the Lady Eagles up 6-4 in a quarter that could have easily leaned the Lady Marshals way if not for several missed scoring opportunities that just didn’t fall.
Driving the length of the floor following a miss by Graves County to start the second quarter, Cayson Conner laid the ball in to tie the game 6-6. Graves County scored the next five points to go up 11-6 before the 5-0 run ended on a basket by Conner. Down 14-8, two straight baskets by Lorin Powell made it a two-point game before the Lady Eagles finished out the half on a 6-0 run to lead 20-12.
Zippora Johnson and Danielle Waggoner put the Lady Eagles up 25-12 early in the second half. Following a basket by Kinley Edwards, Waggoner hit her second three of the quarter to put Graves County up by 14 points and her third three of the quarter to put the Lady Eagles up 31-16, hanging on to the 15-point lead going into the fourth quarter.
The Lady Marshals out-scored Graves County 8-2 to open the fourth and cut their lead to nine points on three points by both Emily Bridges and Presley Jezik and free throws from Tera Colson. A free-throw by Qualls put the lead back at 10 points, cut to eight on a basket by Bridges.
Down by nine points in the closing 1:19 of the game, the Lady Marshals were forced to foul sending Graves County to the line where they stretched their lead out to 13 before a 3-pointer by Colson cut it back to 10. A final free throw by Raychel Mathis gave Graves County the 11-point win.
The Lady Marshals will play their final game of the regular season tonight at Madisonville North Hopkins.
