
Mr. James H. “Jimmy” Woolfolk Jr., 97, of Benton, died on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018, at Lake Way Nursing & Rehabilitation in Benton.
He was retired from TVA where he worked in the Public Safety Division for 39 years. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving in Germany and Japan during World War II. Mr. Woolfolk was a Kentucky Colonel, coached youth baseball and softball, a member of First Missionary Baptist Church and supported all family events. He loved working in the garden and being outside.
Born Saturday, Sept. 4, 1920, in Dequeen, Ark., he was the son of the late James Heflin Woolfolk Sr. and Ruth Dean (Miles) Woolfolk.
Surviving are son, Mike Woolfolk, wife Joelette of Hopkinsville; daughters, Linda Drown, husband Larry, and Deborah Woolfolk, both of Benton, Dianne Woolfolk of Cane Ridge, Tenn.; grandchildren, Seth Drown, wife Ashley, Laurinda Reed, husband Joey, Ryan Woolfolk, wife Jackie, Abby Seel, husband Matt, Angie Johnson, husband Patrick, and great-grandchildren, Jack Reed, Rebecca Reed, Katelyn Drown, Owen Woolfolk, Evan Woolfolk, Joel Seel, Nora Seel, Abbott Johnson and Emmett Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Sara Barnes Woolfolk; son, Jacky Woolfolk; and sisters, Fay Russell, Mildred Smith, Dorcas Lewis and Juanita Maddox.
A Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018, at Collier Funeral Chapel located at 211 West 5th St. Benton, KY 42025 with Rev. Joey Reed, Rev. K. Alan Miller and Rev. Matt Seel officiating.
Interment with military honors will follow in the Benton Cemetery in Benton.
Visitation will be held between the hours of 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 6, 2018 at Collier Funeral Home in Benton.
