
The Lady Marshals are on a four-game win streak following Thursday’s thrilling last second win over Greenwood at Hopkins County Central and a win over Brighton, TN Friday morning.
Against Greenwood Thursday, the game was tied 39-39 with 19.7 second to go. The Lady Marshals brought the ball down court where it ended up in the hands of Tera Colson who drilled a three with just a couple second left on the clock for a 42-39 win.
The Lady Marshals had to dig themselves out of a hole in the first half after falling behind 17-4. A 3-pointer by Layne Pea stopped the scoring drought and they finished out the half out-scoring Greenwood 13-7, trailing by four points at halftime.
Pea cut it to two points to start the second half and baskets by Cayson Conner and Kinley Edwards gave the Lady Marshals their first lead of the game at 29-28. A final third quarter basket by Presley Jezik gave them a 31-30 lead heading into the final quarter.
Tied at 35 with three and half minutes to go, Megan Une put the Lady Dragons on top by two points. A free throw by Lorin Powell cut the lead to one before Greenwood went back up by three. With one and half minutes remaining, Conner sand a three that tied the game back up at 39, a tie that held until the final second three by Colson for the win.
Conner led the Lady Marshals with 14 points, Jacqueline Jackson had 22 for Greenwood.
The Lady Marshals tipped off in their second game of the Lady Storm United Mine Workers of America Classic this morning at 9 a.m. against Brighton, TN. A low-scoring game through three quarter, the Lady Marshals led 25-19, but a 20-point fourth quarter gave them an 11-point 46-35 win. They were led in scored by Colson and Powell, both with 13 points.
They will play Ohio County in their second game today at Hopkins County Central at 4:00.
