The Bicentennial Volunteers Inc., a group of TVA retirees organized in 1975; and the Johnston-Hanson Foundation, a Spokane, Wash., group which supports educational efforts, have recently contributed $3,000 and $2,000, respectively, to the Land Between the Lakes Association’s School Trip Grant Fund, a program which provides financial support for schools to visit Land Between the Lakes.
Friends of Land Between the Lakes Executive Director John Rufli said
“Environment education is one of the key missions of LBLA. Over 2,300 students visited Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area during the last school year with assistance from this program,” said John Rufli, Friends of Land Between the Lakes executive director. “We distributed over $17,000 to 28 groups. Both of these organizations have been a long-time supporters and their efforts make these school trips to public land possible.”
Public schools within a 100-mile radius of Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area may apply for the funds. Complete details are available at www.friendsoflbl.org.
