Local law enforcement officers held the 15th annual Shop with a Cop event Friday, Dec. 14 in Benton. Some 15 officers took 25 local children shopping for Christmas and then for a pizza party at Gatti’s in Draffenville. Officers and volunteers work throughout the year to raise funds for the program, which works to bridge the gap between children and law enforcement, specifically in instances where children have either been victims of a crime or have family members who have been involved with law enforcement in some way.
Marshall County Sheriff’s Office deputies recently raised funds for the program through its No-Shave November campaign, during which participating officers paid for the privilege of growing out facial hair. MCSO raised more than $500 for the program.
