
Chris Harvey’s seventh-grade social studies classes recently took part in the fall Stock Market game. This annual game was sponsored by the Kentucky Council on Economic Education and Murray State University.
The students were placed in groups and given $100,000 of simulated money to invest in various companies. Three teams competed in the top 50 among those in western Kentucky and will be going on April 30 to Murray State for an awards day. The “Stocking Stuffers,” composed of Carson Blossom, Christina Gill, Avery Taylor and Lakyn Dodge finished fifth out of 94 teams in western Kentucky and 13th out of 304 teams statewide. The Stocking Stuffers finished with more than $106,000 in their portfolio.
The Stock Sisters, composed of Peyton Lamb, Hannah Collie, Mia Teague and Brooke Hurley finished 11th in western Kentucky and 49th in the state. Stock Sisters finished with more than $103,000 in their portfolio.
The Stormtroopers, composed of Landon Shupe, Deaglan Thompson and Caitlyn Huffmaster finished 24th in western Kentucky and 95th in the state. They finished with more than $102,000 in their portfolio.
