Benton man arrested after police say he altered license plate

A Benton man was arrested last week after police say he altered the decal on his license plate.

According to Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, detectives were investigating a report of drug activity about 3 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22 on Mount Moriah Road in Marshall County. During the course of the investigation, detectives say they discovered a vehicle on the premises with what appeared to be an altered license plate decal.

Detectives initiated contact with Brandon Grigson of Benton, who was loading the vehicle at the time. According to MCSO, a computer check indicated the tags were expired but the decal had been altered to make it appear otherwise. Police say the vehicle also had not been registered after its last sale.

Grigson was arrested on suspicion of criminal possession of a forged instrument and served an active bench warrant from Marshall County.
