Kentucky State Police Investigating Fatal Collision

KUTTAWA, KY (October 26, 2017) – A collision on Highway 453 (also known as The Trace) in Lyon County has claimed the lives of two teenagers and sent two more teenagers to a local hospital. At approximately 10:00 p.m., on October 25th, KSP Post 1 received a report of a single vehicle collision on The Trace.

Preliminary investigation has shown Kaitlyn Bowers was driving a 2013 Ford Mustang southbound on Highway 453 and, upon entering a left curve, the vehicle exited the roadway and struck a tree.

Kaitlyn C. Bowers, age 18, of Owensboro, Kentucky was transported by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Joseph L. Phillips, age 18, of Lewisburg, Kentucky was a passenger in the vehicle and was transported by ambulance to Murray-Calloway County Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Aaron C. Adams, age 19, of Cadiz, Kentucky, was a passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lyon County Coroner.

Robert M. Clayton Jr., age 18, of Murray, Kentucky, was a passenger in the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lyon County Coroner.

The Kentucky State Police were assisted at the scene by Lyon County Sheriff’s Department, Kuttawa Fire Department, Lyon County Fire-Rescue, and Lyon County Ambulance Service.

The investigation is continuing by Collision Reconstructionist Eric Fields.
