Community volunteers have been pitching in to help Marcella’s Kitchen, a local nonprofit seeking to provide meals for needy individuals in Marshall County, make head way on a new facility.

Volunteers this week have been clearing out the former Stilley Professional Building on George McClain Drive in Benton, knocking down walls to turn the six-office building into a large commercial kitchen and dining facility to house the community kitchen. The organization purchased the building in August to renovate and open in a more central location within the county with the ability to feed more residents. Marcella’s Kitchen currently operates out of the Draffenville Community Center.

Board members hope to have renovations complete and be open for service within a year. The kitchen will continue to operate in its Draffenville location until the move.

Marcella’s serves meals from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. For more information, find it on Facebook. To donate to the building fund, mail contributions to P.O. Box 272, Benton, KY 42025.
