Benton man charged with DUI after police allege he left wrecked motorcycle on roadside

A Benton man is facing DUI charges after police say he left his motorcycle on the side of the road unoccupied.

According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded Friday to U.S. Highway 68 E near the Dinner Bell outside Aurora in reference to a motorcycle in a ditch with no rider present. Deputies ran the registration plate, which came back to Kelvin Ham, 46, of Benton.

Deputies arrived at the owner’s residence and spoke to a witness at the property who alleged Ham had driven the motorcycle down the road and had wrecked it. Upon further investigation, deputies say Ham reported two different people were driving the bike, however witnesses verified Ham had been driving.

Deputies administered a field sobriety test, which Ham failed, according to MCSD. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI.
