Purchase Youth Village opens doors on mental health options in region

Marshall County Commissioner Johnny Bowlin, Dr. Maqbool Ahmed, Sheriff Kevin Byars, Judge-Executive Kevin Neal, Dr. Wasim Sajid (w/scissors), Rep. Will Coursey, Benton Mayor Rita Dotson, Benton Councilwoman Rita Murray, Purchase Youth Village Director Denise Lester, and building contractor Dennis Smith cut the ribbon on the new facility June 23 in Benton. Purchase Youth Village is a psychiatric residential treatment facility for children and teens specializing in autism treatment but offering therapies in a wide range of mental illnesses. The 18,000 square foot facility, which began accepting patients July 5, presently houses 28 beds but has recently been approved for 20 more. The center is the first of its kind in Kentucky and is located at 473 Old Symsonia Road in Benton.
