
The track of Sunday’s storm traveled about three miles through the Draffenville area.
The National Weather Service in Paducah has identified a microburst that caused property damage Sunday during storms in Draffenville.
According to NWS, about 9:17 a.m. Sunday, a bowing line segment with an embedded “Mesoscale Convective Vortex” intensified over Marshall County, producing a microburst with winds up to 85 mph through a three-mile path in Draffenville.
“A garage was blown off its foundation and pivoted approximately 40 degrees,” a NWS damage report states. “A roof covering between the garage and the house collapsed. The adjacent house also had siding and the exterior covering at the attic level blown out at one end. A car had its rear window broken/blown out. At least a half dozen homes had loss of some shingles or other relatively light exterior damage. At least two other garages sustained partial loss of roofs and siding. A boat dock business had numerous docks or other property blown around. Several trees were uprooted and dozens of trees had broken limbs.”
No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.
