Twelve years of 4-Hers getting crafty was celebrated on November 19th! Twenty-two Marshall County 4-Hers got ready for the holidays at the 12th Annual 4-H Holiday Workshop. During the workshop, the 4-Hers learned to make various craft and food items. Several were going to give their handmade items as gifts for friends and family on their Christmas gift list.
The 4-Hers were broken into small groups and rotated through five work stations throughout the day. Lena D. Mallory, Marshall County 4-H Agent, led the Potato Soup Mix station. At this station, the 4-Hers made a ready to add water and cook soup mix. They also learned how to measure ingredients and the importance of hand washing when preparing food.
The holiday ornament station was led by 4-H volunteer, Candace Miller. Mini-wreaths were created with the help of 4-H volunteer, Judy Price and Courtney Taylor, 4-H Program Assistant. 4-H volunteer, Missy Miller took the lead on the fuse bead station. 4-H volunteer, Shea Wilson took a polaroid picture of each 4-Her to frame and take home along with gift bags and cards.
Each 4-Her group was assigned a teen leader including Nathan Tapscott, Isaac Miller, Alisha Boone, and Callie Bridges. Lena Mallory, Marshall County 4-H Agent, and Courtney Taylor, 4-H Program Assistant, made sure all the participants had a nutritious morning snack, got supplies, coordinated the “behind the scenes” needs, and confirmed all of the volunteers.
