Mr. Harold Wayne Dempsey, age 88 of Gilbertsville, KY died on Saturday, October 1, 2016, at his home. He was a member of East Marshall Baptist Church where he served as Deacon. He was a veteran of World War II. He worked and retired from Canteen Vending Company and Home Supply, and was Chairman of the Board of the East Marshall Fire Department. Born Sunday, October 2, 1927 in Seanth, Missouri, he was the son of the late Lee Dempsey and the late Kate M. (Keen) Heritage. Surviving are his wife, Zena (Collins) Dempsey of Gilbertsville, KY, daughters, Marilyn S. Pratt of Smithland, KY and Sandra L. Quertermous of Smithland, KY, Daughter-in-law, Vickie Stockstill Cassady Dempsey of Ft. Myers, FL, brother-in-law, Bill Butler and sister, Sharon Heritage of St. Louis, MO; grandchildren, Scott B. Nichols, Eric B. Nichols, Ben B. Dempsey, Megan A. Hutcheson, Sarah Dempsey Anthony, Amanda Dempsey, Joshua B. Sietz, Matthew B. Dempsey, April Pratt Buckley, Autumn Pratt Duffy, Kaitlynn E. Quertermous and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Joe Dempsey, step-father, Frank Heritage, brothers, Jack Dempsey and Charles Heritage, sister, Connie M. Dempsey, and son-in-law, James Leslie Quertermous. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the East Marshall Baptist Church. Rev. James Keeling will officiate.
