Hobert Gideon

flag-flowerMr. Hobert Duane Gideon, age 86 of Benton, KY passed away Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Baptist Health in Paducah, KY. Born Sunday, November 3, 1929 in Granite City, IL, in his earlier years, he was a member of the Teamsters local in St. Louis.

He worked construction for several years until he became the Maintenance Supervisor for Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church and served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Hobert’s greatest joy throughout his life was serving the Lord, especially in music ministry.

Mr. Gideon is survived by his wife of 62 years Mary Nell (Smith) Gideon of Benton, KY; son Michael D. Gideon and his fiancé Mika Overby of Nashville, TN; daughter Lonnie K. Copeland and her husband Donald of Gilbertsville, KY; son James S. “Jim” Gideon and his wife Leigh of Benton, KY and 3 grandchildren, Rachel Prange, Tristen Prange and Gracie Gideon all of Benton.

Mr. Gideon was preceded in death by his brother, Hubert Gideon, sisters, Rowena Gahagan, Naomi Barton, Aldine Pentecost and Lorna Bowers. His parents were the late Homer Zeno and Lilly Pearl (Sparks) Gideon.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday September 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Collier Funeral Home. Rev. Charles LeChance and Rev. Calvin Wilkins officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held between the hours of 5:00 pm and 8:00 pm on Monday September 12, 2016 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 W 5th St, Benton, KY 42025.
