Mr. Dennis Armstrong, age 87, of Calvert City, KY died on Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at Calvert City Convalescent Center in Calvert City, KY. Born Monday, February 18, 1929 in Rosiclare, IL, he worked as a manager for Verizon Communications and was a member of Calvert City United Methodist Church, where he held all positions. He served honorably in the United States Army during Korea. Past President of the Calvert City Lion's Club and Chamber of Commerce. Active in the Memphis Conference of the United Methodist Church, organized the Calvert chapter of the Marshall County Library System and was a charter member of the Calvert City Country Club. Mr. Armstrong is survived by his wife of 63 years Arzetta (Walls) Armstrong of Calvert City, KY; daughters, Kay Lambert and her husband Matt of Smithland, KY, Judy Hart and her husband Mike of Boquete, Panama, and Brenda Newman of Calvert City, KY; four grandchildren, David Lambert, Jennifer Hart and her husband Paul Schauert, Jason Hart and his wife Kelly and Sean Newman; and one great-granddaughter Mia Hart. Mr. Armstrong was preceded in death by his brothers, Joe Armstrong, Billy Armstrong, Jimmy Armstrong and Larry Armstrong. His parents were the late John David "Dave" and Pauline (McCandless) Armstrong. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Calvert City United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Gregory Waldrop officiating. Burial will follow in Calvert City Cemetery. Visitation will be held between the hours of 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm on Saturday August 27, 2016 at Calvert City United Methodist Church.
