Marshall County Sheriff’s Report – June 22, 2016

sheriffOn Tuesday June 21st Sgt. Eddie McGuire observed a vehicle on 641 N near memory gardens that the operator was known to have an active warrant. Sgt. McGuire made contact with the subject and asked if there was anything illegal on him which he stated he had marijuana in his pocket. There was approximately 10 grams of marijuana recovered from his pocket along with a pill bottle. Inside the pill bottle there was approximately 1 gram of methamphetamine along with 2 pills he did not have a prescription for. Bronson A. Moore 46, of Benton, was placed under arrest for his active warrant and also charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession Controlled Substance 1st Degree- Methamphetamine and two counts of Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree- Drug Unspecified.

On June 21st an investigation by Detective Lieutenant Matt Hilbrecht culminated in the arrest of a Hardin man. The investigation began when over$38,000 in golf carts were stolen from Kenlake State Park. All seven golf carts have now been recovered. At the conclusion of the investigation warrants were issued and on 6-21 one was served when Deputy Jeff Daniel made contact with Jeffery L. Morrison age 50 of Hardin during a traffic stop. Deputy Daniel served the warrant charging Morrison with Theft By Unlawful Taking Over $10,000, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Obscuring the Identity of a Machine $10,000 or More. He was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center. More arrests in this case are pending. Also related to this case Justin L. Hanks 33, of Benton, was arrested on May 26th and upon further investigation and search other charges were taken. Det. Lt. Hilbrecht charged Hanks with Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree-Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
