(LYON COUNTY, Ky.) — The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office has released details of several incidents and arrests made over the past week, including the apprehension of a teenage fugitive wanted for murder in Tennessee.

Hit-and-Run Investigation Continues

On Sunday, December 14, Sheriff Brent White responded to a single-vehicle crash on KY 93 South near KY 778 in the Lamasco community just after 11 a.m.

According to the investigation, Braxton Hargrove, 19, of Cadiz was driving a 2005 Honda Accord southbound when he reportedly saw an oncoming vehicle drift into his lane. Hargrove said he took evasive action to avoid a head-on collision, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway and strike an earthen embankment on the right shoulder. Hargrove was not injured.

The other vehicle fled the scene without stopping or rendering aid. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 270-388-2311.

Sex Offender Arrested on New Charges

On Monday, December 15, at 8 a.m., Sheriff White arrested Randall J. Kyle, 39, of Eddyville on a Lyon Circuit Court indictment warrant charging him with first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years old. Kyle was already registered on the Kentucky Sex Offender Registry at the time of his arrest. He posted a $10,000 cash bond and was released from custody.

Juvenile Charged with Terroristic Threatening

School Resource Officer Deputy Cory Jessup charged a 12-year-old juvenile with third-degree terroristic threatening on Monday, December 15, around 11:30 a.m.

The charge stems from an investigation into an assault complaint reported on Friday, December 12, that occurred just outside school property. Deputy Jessup’s investigation revealed the juvenile, who was allegedly the aggressor in the assault, had sent multiple messages to the victim threatening to kill them and cause bodily harm. The investigation is ongoing.

Additional Arrests

Sheriff White arrested John M. Oliver, 31, of Hopkinsville on Monday afternoon on a Logan Circuit Court indictment warrant for theft by failure to make required disposition of property valued at $10,000 or more, along with a persistent felony offender charge. Oliver is awaiting extradition to Logan County.

Driver Arrested After Pursuit, Faces Deportation

On Tuesday, December 16, around 6:30 p.m., Deputy Bobby Beeler attempted to stop a 2014 Ford Edge for a traffic violation in Eddyville. The driver failed to yield and turned onto Ken Oak Drive, continuing through a parking lot until he could go no further.

The driver, identified as Cesar Agubla Lista Gaubla, 42, was arrested and charged with no operator’s license, second-degree fleeing or evading police, no tail lamps, and failure to wear a seat belt. He was initially lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Authorities determined Gaubla was in the country illegally, and he was later served with an arrest warrant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for immigration violations. He was transferred to the Christian County Detention Center on Monday and faces deportation under federal law.

Later that evening, around 11 p.m., Deputy Beeler arrested Rickie A. McKinney, 62, of Hopkinsville on McKinney Road on a Lyon District Court bench warrant for failure to appear. McKinney was lodged in the Crittenden County Detention Center.

Teen Murder Suspect Apprehended

In the most serious arrest of the week, Sheriff White arrested a 16-year-old male juvenile from Oak Grove in Eddyville on Wednesday, December 17, around 11:45 a.m.

The teen was charged as a fugitive from justice on a warrant from Davidson County, Tennessee, where he faces charges including first-degree premeditated/intentional murder, four counts of attempted first-degree premeditated/intentional murder, and accessory after the fact.

The juvenile was lodged in the McCracken Regional Juvenile Detention Facility, where he awaits extradition to Nashville.
