(CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.) — Murray State continued its hot streak Saturday, cruising to a 74-56 road victory over Austin Peay at F&M Bank Arena. The win marks the Racers fifth consecutive triumph and improves their record to 7-2 on the season.

In the 100th meeting between the Racers and Governors, Murray State wasted no time asserting control, opening with a nine-point lead after the first quarter and expanding the margin to 13 by intermission. The Racers never looked back, maintaining their double-digit advantage throughout the second half before closing out the game with a decisive 23-point fourth quarter.

Leading the charge was forward Sharnecce Currie-Jelks, who posted her seventh double-double of the year with a game-high 29 points and 12 rebounds. The standout performance keeps Currie-Jelks among the nation’s leaders in double-doubles while reinforcing her status as the Missouri Valley Conference’s top scorer at 21.7 points per game. She also ranks second in the conference in rebounding (10.8) and leads in field goal percentage (.565).

“She was efficient all night,” Head Coach Rechelle Turner said of Currie-Jelks’ performance, as she shot 9-of-14 from the floor and knocked down 10 of 12 free throw attempts.

Guard Halli Poock provided vital support with 17 points on 8-of-11 shooting while distributing a team-high six assists. Haven Ford added 11 points and six rebounds, and Briley Pena contributed nine points, including three three-pointers.

The Racers dominated at the free-throw line, converting at a 90.5% clip (19-of-21) compared to Austin Peay’s 58.3%. Murray State also shot 47.2% from the field while limiting the Governors to 36.1%, and held a 36-33 rebounding advantage.

The Racers will look to extend their winning streak to six games on December 15th at 11:00 a.m. at home as they will take on the Memphis Tigers.
