(MURRAY, Ky.) — Murray State University’s annual Homecoming parade will roll through downtown Murray this Saturday, November 1, beginning at 9:30 a.m., with multiple street closures expected to impact traffic throughout the morning.
The parade will start at Court Square and travel west along Main Street (KY 94), crossing 12th Street before concluding at 16th Street.
Road Closures and Detours
Traffic restrictions will begin early Saturday morning as parade participants line up. Starting at 8:00 a.m., Main Street—including LP Miller, Cherry, and 3rd Street—will be closed for parade staging. Motorists are advised to avoid the area during lineup.
By 9:00 a.m., all cross streets between 4th and 12th Streets will be closed to vehicle traffic.
Highway 641 (12th Street) will remain open for north and south traffic until approximately 9:45 a.m., when the parade approaches. The highway will then be blocked until the parade passes.
Officials expect the parade to last between 60 and 90 minutes.
Alternate Routes
Drivers seeking to avoid delays should use Industrial Road and Railroad Avenue to the east of the parade route, or Doran Road and 18th Street to the west.
The Murray Police Department reminds motorists to watch for pedestrians along Main Street and to allow extra travel time Saturday morning to reach their destinations safely.
