(BOWLING GREEN, Ky.) — Senior Trinity Beth fired a 2-under-par 70 to claim the individual lead at the KHSAA Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac State Tournament on Tuesday, pacing the Marshall County Lady Marshals to fourth place in the team standings after a rain-delayed first round.
Tournament officials pushed the start time back to noon due to inclement weather before play could begin at the state championship event.
Beth’s impressive opening round put her one stroke ahead of a trio of golfers tied for second place at 1-under 71: Sacred Heart junior Kiera Yun, Cumberland County junior Kenzie Willet, and Ballard Memorial senior Hannah Glisson.
In the team competition, Marshall County posted a first-round score of 35-over-par, placing them fourth in the field. Madison Central holds the team lead at 12-over-par, followed by Lexington Christian in second at 17-over and Sacred Heart in third at 18-over.
The tournament continues with second-round play scheduled for Wednesday.
