On Saturday, April 9, Benton City Police Officer Spears was approached by a citizen, who made a complaint of a possible impaired driver.
Officer Spears observed the vehicle in question, as it was pulling out of Wendy’s on West 5th Street in Benton.
While behind the vehicle, Officer Spears noticed that the vehicle crossed the center line and fog line several times.
A traffic stop was made and Officer Spears spoke with the driver, he could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.
After a roadside investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Kelly R. Allen, 26, of Benton was charged with Reckless Driving and Operating a Motor Vehicle while Under the Influence of Drugs/Alcohol 1st Offense.
