
(MAYFIELD, Ky.) — The Marshall County Lady Marshals volleyball team came up just short in a hard-fought battle Tuesday evening, falling to the Graves County Lady Eagles 3-2 in a match that went the distance.
The Lady Marshals dropped the opening set 25-21 but fought back to take the second set 25-23, evening the match at one set apiece. Marshall County continued their momentum into the third set, claiming a 25-20 victory to take a 2-1 lead.
However, Graves County refused to go quietly. The Lady Eagles battled back to win a tightly contested fourth set 26-24, forcing a decisive fifth set.
In the final frame, both teams traded points in what became a nail-biting finish. Ultimately, Graves County edged out Marshall County 16-14 to secure the 3-2 victory.
Despite the loss, the Lady Marshals showed resilience throughout the match, twice answering deficits to push the Lady Eagles to the limit. The five-set match showcased competitive volleyball from both squads as they battled point-for-point down the stretch.
Marshall County will travel to Calloway County on Thursday night for a district matchup.
