Marshall County Lifts Outdoor Burn Ban After Weather Improvement

(BENTON, Ky.)-Marshall County Judge/Executive Kevin Spraggs announced Wednesday that the county’s outdoor burn ban has been officially lifted, citing improved weather conditions that have reduced fire danger risks.

The executive order, signed September 24, 2025, rescinds the burn ban that was originally implemented on September 8, 2025, in response to excessively dry conditions throughout the county.

“Due to the excessively dry weather in Marshall County, the circumstances which necessitated the Burn Ban Order dated September 8, 2025, prohibiting outdoor burning, no longer exists,” Spraggs stated in the official order.

The decision to lift the 16-day burn restriction was made under the authority of Marshall County Fiscal Court Ordinance #07-06, which grants the judge/executive power to implement and rescind burn bans based on weather conditions and fire safety concerns.

Marshall County residents can now resume outdoor burning activities, though officials remind citizens to continue exercising caution and follow all local fire safety regulations. The county had implemented the temporary ban as a precautionary measure during a period of heightened fire risk due to drought-like conditions.

The burn ban lifting affects all unincorporated areas of Marshall County. Residents should check with their local municipalities for any city-specific burning regulations that may still be in effect.
