(MURRAY, Ky.) – A 26-year-old Murray man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly attempting to take two young children at a local apartment complex while appearing intoxicated.
Murray Police Department officers responded to a call about a suspicious person at approximately 3:43 p.m. on September 19, 2025. Upon arriving at the scene, investigators discovered that Dawson McCoy had allegedly grabbed two children and tried to get them to leave with him.
According to police, both children were able to break free from McCoy before any harm occurred.
McCoy was taken into custody and charged with attempted kidnapping of a minor and alcohol intoxication. He remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
The Murray Police Department emphasized in their statement that all individuals charged with criminal offenses are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
