(CALVERT CITY, Ky.) — The Calvert City Police Department reported two unrelated incidents this month that resulted in multiple arrests, including violations of protective orders and public intoxication.
Domestic Violence Case Results in Two Arrests
On September 9, police responded to a complaint at Calvert City Apartments regarding an individual who was reportedly trespassing on the property. The incident involved a person who had been previously banned from the premises.
When officers arrived, the apartment resident initially denied that the trespassed individual was inside and granted permission for police to search the residence. However, during the search, officers discovered the subject hiding in the master bedroom closet.
The situation was complicated by an active Emergency Protective Order (EPO) between the two individuals involved.
Joshua Luke Tabor, 37, of Cedar Street in Calvert City, was arrested on charges of third-degree criminal trespassing and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO.
Courtney Rashell Sanderson, 35, also of Cedar Street in Calvert City, was charged with second-degree hindering prosecution or apprehension and violation of a Kentucky EPO/DVO through complicity for allegedly helping to conceal Tabor’s presence.
The Calvert City Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office in this case.
Public Intoxication Incident at Local Gas Station
Three days later, on September 12, officers responded to a Speedway gas station after reports of a possibly intoxicated man who was yelling at parked semi-trucks.
Police found the individual sitting on the back of a semi-trailer with Modelo beer nearby. When the man attempted to jump down from the trailer, he fell face-first into the grass. Upon getting up, he displayed obvious signs of intoxication.
The subject was reportedly uncooperative with officers and appeared confused about his whereabouts and current address. Police discovered pieces of a Modelo beer box and empty beer cans in the area where the man was found.
Evan Hernandez, 21, of Johnson City, Tennessee, was arrested on multiple charges including alcohol intoxication in a public place, criminal littering, and drinking alcoholic beverages in a public place.
Both incidents highlight ongoing challenges with domestic violence enforcement and public safety that local law enforcement continues to address in the community.
