A Little Light When You Need It

This week has weighed heavily on many hearts across our nation. When difficult topics consume our thoughts and leave us feeling overwhelmed, sad, or anxious, sometimes the most healing thing we can do is step back and reclaim a moment of peace.

Take time today to nurture yourself: connect with God, take deep breaths, share genuine smiles, embrace those you care about, and open your heart to love.

For anyone seeking a gentle lift today, here’s a collection of warm humor to brighten your spirit.

Observations That Might Make You Chuckle

On Technology:

  • My phone’s auto-correct has become so aggressive that it’s started correcting my thoughts before I even type them. Yesterday I thought “pizza” and it changed it to “salad.” Even my phone is trying to get me to eat healthier.
  • I love how GPS apps say “turn right in 500 feet” like I have any idea what 500 feet looks like. I’m out here using landmarks like “turn right at the house with the really aggressive lawn gnome.”

On Daily Life:

  • You know you’re an adult when you get genuinely excited about a really good parking spot. Like, call-your-mom-to-tell-her-about-it excited.
  • I’ve reached the age where my back goes out more than I do.
  • The most exercise I get these days is jumping to conclusions.

On Modern Times:

  • I tried to be mysterious and interesting by reading a book in a coffee shop, but I spent the whole time worried people would think I was just holding it as a prop, so I kept obviously turning pages even though I wasn’t actually reading. The barista probably thinks I’m the world’s fastest reader or someone who really enjoys page 47.
  • My biggest fear about artificial intelligence isn’t that robots will take over the world—it’s that they’ll judge my browser history.

A Gentle Reminder

If you’re reading this during a tough time, remember: somewhere right now, a dog is wagging its tail just because their human came back from checking the mailbox. A toddler is laughing hysterically at their own feet. Someone is discovering their new favorite song. A grandparent is telling the same story for the hundredth time to someone who loves hearing it.

The world keeps spinning, seasons keep changing, and there’s still magic in small moments—even when everything feels heavy.

One More Thing

Remember that you don’t have to carry the weight of the whole world on your shoulders. Sometimes the most radical thing you can do is take care of yourself, laugh at something silly, and trust that tomorrow might be a little brighter.

Take care of yourself. You matter more than you know.
