
PRINCETON, Ky. – The Marshall County Marshals traveled to Caldwell County Friday night for what proved to be a thrilling battle, ultimately falling to the Tigers 30-28 in a game that came down to the final moments.
Despite the loss, the Marshals showed resilience on both sides of the ball. The offense managed 302 total yards, with 142 yards rushing and 160 yards through the air, while the defense forced two crucial interceptions to keep the game within reach.
Offensive Highlights
Senior quarterback Neyland Jezik led the aerial attack, completing 12 of 22 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. His primary targets were senior receiver Ethan Webber, who hauled in 4 catches for 105 yards and two touchdowns, and sophomore Jett Jones, who added 4 receptions for 90 yards.
On the ground, the Marshals were paced by sophomore Jake Thomasson, who carried the ball 15 times for 92 yards and one touchdown. Senior Kayson Holland contributed 8 carries for 46 yards, while Jezik added 13 rushes for 30 yards in the dual-threat attack.
Defensive Standouts
The Marshall defense was anchored by junior Kaden Merrick, who recorded 9 solo tackles and came up with one of the team’s two interceptions. Senior Wyatt Holley also made his presence felt with 9 solo tackles, while sophomore Kolten Winsett and senior Deegan Croley each contributed 6 solo tackles.
Senior Grant Franklin provided the highlight of the defensive effort, returning an interception 41 yards for a touchdown to help keep pace with the Tigers’ offense.
Special Teams Solid
Senior Clayton Ordunez handled the kicking duties efficiently, converting all four extra point attempts to maintain perfect accuracy on PATs for the season.

The loss drops the Marshals’ record to 1-1 on the season. Despite the setback, the team showed the ability to move the ball effectively against a solid Caldwell County defense and created turnovers that kept them competitive throughout the contest.
The Marshals will look to bounce back Friday night as they travel to Cadiz to play Trigg County (1-1).as they continue their pursuit of postseason success.
