(DRAFFENVILLE, Ky.) — The Marshall County Athletic Hall of Fame will celebrate another milestone evening as they officially inducted their Class of 2025 during a ceremony tonight.

The prestigious honor recognizes eight exceptional individuals and one legendary team whose contributions have helped shape the rich athletic tradition of Marshall County sports.

2025 Inductees

Leading this year’s class is Coach Stephen Son, whose dedication to developing young student-athletes has left an indelible mark in education and on the community’s soccer programs.

Two distinguished contributors were also honored for their behind-the-scenes impact: Donna Perry and Bill Murphy, both of whom have provided invaluable support to Marshall County athletics over the years.

The individual athlete inductees represent excellence across multiple sports:

  • Nolan Nichols (Football)
  • Daniel Ard (Football/Basketball)
  • Justin Ard (Football/Basketball)
  • Brigette Howard (Basketball)
  • Shea Sheppard (Volleyball)

Rounding out this year’s class is the 1998 Marshall County Football Team, a squad that went 11-2 under legendary Head Coach Jim Shelton.  The eleven wins still are the most in program history.  The team fell in the third round of the KHSAA Class 4A playoffs on the road at Nelson County.

Amongst the many accomplishments of this team, two regular season wins served as catapults for the 1998 season.  They opened the season with Marshall County’s first win in a varsity game against Paducah Tilghman and two weeks later started their 10 game winning streak, which still stands today, as they defeated Caldwell County 35-7, the only loss for the eventual Class 2A Champions.

The Marshall County Athletic Hall of Fame continues to serve as a tribute to the athletes, coaches, and supporters who have elevated the standard of excellence in local sports, ensuring their legacies inspire future generations of Marshall County competitors.
